The Northern Belle train entered service in 2000 to provide the ultimate in stylish day excursions and short breaks, departing from cities and towns throughout Britain.
Combining classic craftsmanship and contemporary engineering, it is a reflection of the magnificent 'Belle' trains of the 1930s.
The six dining carriages, named after great British castles or stately homes, display marquetry, fabrics and brass fittings specifically commissioned from British craftsmen.
On 31 May 2000, the Northern Belle’s inaugural journey took guests from Liverpool Lime Street to Belvoir Castle.
To celebrate the historic occasion, 252 guests including celebrities from the north of England enjoyed live musical entertainment en route. Passengers dined on an exquisite champagne brunch before arriving at Belvoir Castle for a private tour and jousting tournament.
This inaugural journey was the first of many exceptional excursions made by the Northern Belle, and she continues to dazzle guests with great day and weekend trips throughout Britain.
